Crying Wolf: For the One’s Who Warned Too Soon

Maybe you saw it coming before anyone else did.

Maybe you felt the danger in your bones,

The shift in the wind,

The shadow on the edge of town.

Maybe you tried to warn them.

Maybe you tried to prepare them.

Maybe you were dismissed, laughed at, shushed, called dramatic.

And maybe-

when the storm finally came,

when the wolves finally circled-

they still blamed you for crying out too soon.

If you carry that ache-

of seeing too much,

of being misunderstood,

of having your warning twisted into shame- this is for you.

You weren’t wrong

You weren’t foolish

You weren’t broken .

You were early

you were awake

you were trying to love a world that wasn’t ready to listen yet.

Cry out again if you must.

Love again if you can .

Build the defenses you needed when you were small.

Not to punish the one's who ignored you- but to protect the one’s still trying to find their own voices in the dark.

Still Breathing.

Still Warning.

Still burning.

Still not in vain.
